A serial sex offender with a history of sexual assaults has been handed a whole-life prison sentence after being convicted of murdering two women and violently raping another.
Simon Levy was found guilty of the 2025 murders of Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo and Sheryl Wilkins, as well as the violent rape of a third woman.
Appearing at the Old Bailey for sentencing, Levy spoke only to confirm his name before sitting silently in the dock as the judge laid out the disturbing details of his crimes.
His surviving victim described him as a “monster”, while Lindsey Hicks, the sister of Sheryl Wilkins, told him to “rot in prison”. Levy displayed no visible emotion as victims’ families delivered powerful statements about the devastation caused by his actions.
Relatives described themselves as “completely broken”, saying the deaths had left an unbearable emptiness in their lives. Family members were seen comforting each other outside the courtroom, holding hands and passing tissues.
After Levy’s convictions on Friday, restrictions preventing the reporting of his previous crimes were lifted, exposing the extent of his history of offending.
Reports have highlighted a series of failures by authorities that allowed a convicted sex offender to remain at liberty and ultimately commit further horrific crimes.
Judge Mark Lucraft KC described Levy as a man who “ruthlessly exploits others for your own personal satisfaction”.
He then delivered the sentence: “You will be in prison for life and there will be a whole life order.”
Levy will therefore remain behind bars for the rest of his life, with no prospect of parole.
